The font Comic Sans is back with a vengeance.
The font that is a true marmite in the font world has caused quite a stir as it has been unveiled as one of the new fonts on Instagram stories.
You have been able to choose from a selection of fonts within Instagram for a while, its just the font options within Instagram stories has been limited. No more.
Whilst Instagram state that the font isn’t comic sans, it certainly looks VERY similar.
Below are just some of the complaints that people have made about the new font on Twitter.
At the end of the day, this font is one of the many new fonts so there is no need to use it on your own Instagram stories if you feel that strongly about the font. However, it isn’t going to stop you from seeing the font on other Instagram stories if you have an aversion to it.
Focusing on the positives here.
Instagram stories users now have a multitude of fonts to choose from. Allowing you to make your stories pop and to select the font most relevant to your branding.
Whilst Comic Sans is marmite there are benefits to the font, it's typically seen as an accessible font especially to those with dyslexia and ADHD. Of course, there are other fonts which are classed as just as assessable so perhaps to avoid alienating your Instagram story followers you should select one of the other Instagram fonts that are equally accessible.
How do you access these new fonts on Instagram stories?
The fonts within Instagram stories are in the same place as before – to use the simply upload a picture to your story and then tap on the ‘Aa’ icon in the top right of your screen. You can type and swipe between the various text options.
As before you can choose alignments, colours and backgrounds at the top of the screen. Font size can be changed by toggling the bar on the left-hand side of the screen.
Once you have created your text then simply click on the ‘Done’ button in the top right corner of your screen.
I can’t find these new fonts?
If you cannot find these new fonts, then the first thing you should do is ensure that you have the latest version of the Instagram app updated on your device. Remember you will only be able to create Instagram stories via the app and not the desktop website.
If you have updated your app and it's still not showing, then don’t fret. This is a new feature that is being rolled out – when this feature has been fully rolled out then you will see this feature within your account.
